Le Saut des Francais

Basically, French Revolution...The locals did not want to become France so they rushed the french soldiers off the cliff...925 feet down.
Scary steep. I was getting dizzy looking down.
 google translate....

The jump of the French is a locality situated at the exit of Duranus (towards Saint-Jean-la-Rivière, hamlet in the town of Utelle), in the Alpes-Maritimes. At the end of the eighteenth century, it was a center of resistance against the occupation mullet County of Nice by French troops of the Revolution: French soldiers were rushed from the top of the cliff 300 meters ( 984 feet!) in the valley Vésubie below, in retaliation for the atrocities that these same soldiers had committed.

Archaeological research has not confirmed which may be only a legend, or fact remained isolated.

Laurent Ripart the French Skipping has now acquired memory instead of status "throughout the nineteenth century, the stories of past atrocities give birth to a rich oral tradition, which allows mullet to take place, alongside Saracens and Queen Jeanne, in the legendary country of Nice. They soon learn their memorials, such as the famous "jumping the French" Duranus, where, according to tradition, the mullet have thrown alive Republican soldiers, from the top of a precipice of more than 300 meters. "

what ever could "mullet mean" here...Did they all have mullets? I picture them jumping off with the party side of the mullet flying up in the back...the business part staying put.

just a reminder

Dinner with S. at his favorite Pizza Restaurant in Nice

I still prefer NYC pizza....Ray's! Don't tell S.
Corsican Charcuterie ...I want to add that in the front is a slab of butter. Who could believe it but the meat tastes great with the butter and bread.

Pizza Reine ( a french favorite.) Just add more oil on top as many French do. ( spicy oil)...

Calzone Pizza for me....cheeses, ham, egg and thankfully no tomatoes.

Soccer game in progress.

Sunset over Nice

Sunset looking West over Nice.

Villefranche...view east toward Italy.

The Best Beer

I personally think this was the best beer. It is very sharp, which I like. How will I ever be able to drink a Coors Lite again? 285 calories, but you can only drink one or 2.
