After Leiden, I had one more night in Holland, in a town north of Amsterdam called Volendam.
Amsterdam has a ring highway around it, like Rome. I was not sure which exit to get off and I got off too soon...but,
right off the exit, I saw this cemetery in this beautiful light. It was so intense!
There was a man having his lunch in his truck in the small parking lot when I pulled up.
I asked him about the cemetery and he gave me the whole story. I had stopped him from eating his lunch of about 6 home made sandwiches with the crust cut off. He was a huge man, about 7' tall. However, he was so sweet and helpful.
This cemetery dates for WW1 but there are many WW11 concentration camp graves here.
It is in an area called Dieman.
