Productive Day

It's a Saturday and I wanted to gear up and get some things done. I started super early. talking the dogs down to the river to swim. Too cold for me to swim all the way.
When we returned, I took off on my errands. Some people will be happy to know that I cleaned my car inside and out....in a skirt with good shoes. Then I went on a "dry run" to find where the Country Western festival is tonight in Cagnes. I did find the spot and now have a better idea as to parking.
Then I subjected myself to the supermarket...packed as usual, floor cleaners buzzing around threatening to run over your feet. No red onions SOLD OUT, no brown rice or Lima beans as they don't sell either.
A older man in the parting lot with a very serious face gave me a beautiful smile when I passed by...really beautiful
I bought a ticket for the Country Western Concert at the supermarket...everything done in French.

And if that wasn't enough, I got up the gumption to go the the community pool for the first time. It's hot and I needed to swim. I would swim in the river, but I can't get near it. as there are so many people.

I used my residence card for entrance, 2 euro to get in,,,,then, they have the locker situation where in you put a 2 euro piece into the locker and take the key. The woman had to explain this to me. It's like the shopping carts ( which I said to her in French) ...you get the 2 euro back...
Then you walk into the shower area and voila, the shower comes on above your head like prison, I would think. I was unprepared for that.

The pool is all steps in on the far side. The water is luke warm, but I just wanted to get in.
The life guard came over to me and blah blah blah'ed me. I could not understand what he was saying. Then he handed me a hair tie that looked like a white caterpillar. OH...you want me to tie my hair back...ok.
So I swam a little.
I'm on penicillin for the tick bit5e ( target shaped) that I have and have to stay out of the sun....so I left. I returned the white caterpillar and asked the life guard, in French, what did you say to me?
and he explained attachez your hair...
I have made a habit of stopping and correcting myself with the person that says something that I don't understand. He could not have been nicer.
In oreder to leave I had to pass the gauntlet of the automatic prison shower.
So now, I know the drill...bring 2 two euro pieces, bring a hair tie, watch the automatic shower.
They have a really nice lap pool inside if I believed swimming laps would get me in better shape.

Self Portrait apres swim. I really should look up.

wade through and clean your feet.

Surprise Shower when you walk down the path.

Saturday To Do

They've been setting up a big stage in the parking lot at the beginning of town. Can't wait to see this extravaganza and it's free.  I wonder what songs they will sing. I went to see a Beatles cover band in Sonoma, everyone danced and they had a big BBQ. This will be different in everyday.
This got me thinking about The Beatles....my favorite was Paul, but then again, later on I really liked John.
It would be impossible to say my favorite Beatle song. I have a favorite from every period. I especially like the old 60s ones like PS I Love You, Love Me Do, Michelle, Yesterday,  then later, Eleanor Rigby, She Said, Penny Lane, Cries For No One, ( theses are all Paul)
I love John singing country and all the emotional Paul songs after he left like Maybe I'm Amazed or The  Two Of US, although I never liked Linda. I did like Wings.
I was a huge fan of Johns Double Fantasy, I love The Ballad of John and Yoko, Oh Yoko...but again, I was not crazy about Yoko. ( I did however have one of her albums at one time, maybe the one after John  died.) I remember I was in Plattsburgh in the apartment that I shared with Tom on Brinkerhoff street when he was killed. I was very sad about it. It would be so great if he was still alive, making music and causing trouble still.

A few minutes of life.

I just got back from La Poste. I stopped in to see Monsieur L. in his brocante. He is very tan and had on a primary blue wife beater T Shirt. He makes me laugh. I go and use my French, he corrects me. I want to do another portrait. There was an older man in the brocante but left when I arrived. I asked about this man. Monsieur L. said nooooo, not him, he's crazy. He tells me that about everyone. I told him I  liked his wife beater and he showed it off for me.
I asked him if he wanted any fancobollis ....I forgot, that's Italian for stamp....we both laughed...why francobolli?
(les timbres in French)
I went off to the poste where I am comfortable speaking French with the tiny postman with a big mustache that looks like a tiny version of Inspector Clouseau with a beige vest on. He's very sweet. He seems to always find a much less expensive way for me to send things, everytime.
When passing the brocante again and Mon. L. , I spied a clear, bright pink parapluie ( umbrella) that he had for sale on the street. I grabbed it, put it up and over my shoulder. I walked very slowly past the entrance to the brocante twirling the umbrella, head thrown back like I was taking a stroll in the rain.
I turned around and walked back past, twirling and enjoying the imaginary rain through the beautiful pink umbrella. I got a nice chuckle out of Monsieur L. in his primary blue wife beater. Do you think he describes me as crazy?
