I got into Amsterdam at about 3...I was very low energy so I am lucky I did this much. I did manage to find a sushi restaurant to have dinner. The is chilly when the sun disappears. The streets are filled with people...There is so much life and activity here.
I was thinking...before I came to Amsterdam the first time I had a bad opinion of it just from various things I had heard....There is all kinds of vice here, but it's not in your face...
This is a wonderful city...I love the people. They have so much pride of city and country. Mostly everyone speaks English as the Dutch speak many languages from birth. People are so nice, and fun. The city is just beautiful...it would be a great place to live, if I had another lifetime.
As cities go, Nice has nothing on Amsterdam. Amsterdam is so much more cosmopolitan and update. Nice is really stuck in the French trap where outside influences can't penetrate.
Don't get me wrong, I love Nice, but it's not fun like Amsterdam.
Let me add that the Dutch are very good looking people...very sturdy stock, which I like! The food is questionable though...
