On the way

We stopped at 2 other beaches to pick up other divers. We had to be escorted in down a small boat lane on the beach. A man would come out to steer us in.  This was a very posh beach. I think it was called dolce aqua...and the sand was white.
This guy didn't want to get his shirt wet.

Dive Trip

We started off at 8:30 and rode for about an hour to get to the first spot. The sea was very calm. I sat in the front as I love seeing everything , feeling the wind and anticipating the bumps.

A Diptych

This is stone with lichen and veins...found in the hills above the sea in Sardenga

Some Details in Pula

As I was photographing this wall, the man whose house it was stood next to me and looked up...He was looking with a mix of pride and perplexity....

Jumping on the verge...

see him on the rock on the left near the top?
There was a really sweet boy on our diving trip. He was with his Italian stepfather, but he lived in London.and had an english accent. His mother and stepfather lived in Kenya. I especially liked him as he was still a boy in a man's body. He was just on the cusp of being a man. Since I was the only natural english speaker and I was a woman, he deferred  to me a bit. I encouraged him to go jump as there were many local young boys doing it. He stripped out of his wetsuit and climbed up to the diving spot. We all watched him from the boat as he hesitated. We all gave a big cheer when he jumped.  I loved that he was still child....what a great kid.

Here you can see him jumping, as stiff as a plank.

"Phew...that was fun."

South Shore Diving Trip

On the Zodiak going to the diving spots.
I can't tell you how happy I was to be on a boat speeding along the coast.
Look at the color! Stunning.

Imagine....100 miles from Tunisia
We dove all around these rocks.
at the tip here the sea was very rough. This place is known for it's wind. Underwater, it was like an autostrada for fish...all kinds of fish flowed past quickly in this spot.

More Beautiful Sardegna

Simius

A beautiful beach...very long...in a nice resort area. I did a little diving here. It was very crowded. This whole area was interesting geographically.

Drive back to Pula

So beautiful. It would have been smarter for me to have stayed in this area...maybe. It's about a 2 hour drive from Pula, where I was staying. I set out at 9 thinking i'd miss traffic but that didn't work.
This beach is a long walk down a hill in blazing heat. There was only one umbrella on it.
I think Sardinia requires a few trips. I would like to go off season.

Itamatete Beach

This was a very pretty beach. They have a diving shop but I was too late. I did snorkel here....There was a nice rocky cliff area with coral. I saw some fish..not many.

Lunch Before The Beach

Tuna Carpaccio
This was a nice place...I don't have it's name...it was on the beach road, but not on the beach...so it was very hot..

Traditional Pasta...they called it Gnoccini on the menu.

The front of the restaurant.

A Drive East..to Costa del Rei

A long drive with lots of traffic. There is no highway, it's all on regular streets.
There are beaches everywhere but they are problematic. You pay 5 euro to park ( machine) you have to have exact coins. It's super hot...you schlep your gear to the beach. If you want to pay for a chair and umbrella , there are many private areas...but you have to walk far to get to the open spots and they are crowded...and this was on a weekday. I should have bought an umbrella, but I did not plan on being any beach for long. I was looking for a beach to snorkel off of. It was not easy. I think I must have been expecting deserted spaces...
I think this is a beach on The beautiful Costa del Rei.
