Today I did my first official portrait for a project that I am working on that I am calling, Les Tresors or, The Treasures. I will be photographing the old and the young that are from La Colle. There are so many levels of interest for me in this project. I love the sociological aspect of comparing the lives of the old and of the new. This time period is unique as most of these ( if not all) of these older people do not use any electronic...maybe a phone, but no computer. They will each have a "métier" or old school profession.
I started with a man whose nickname is Nolin (the n is not pronounced) from childhood. He was a great person to start with. My friend Patricia helped me with the language that I could not understand.
We followed him up to his quarry? his beautiful, peaceful working spot where he has worked his whole life. It was just lovely. I feel as though I opened the most beautiful box and all kinds of incredible treasures were inside.
