Humpty Dumpty

So, I need a desk. I go to an ikea like place and buy one oh a big glass top. I didn't realize , or I should say, I  didn't think about having to put it together. I really did give it m best try, but when I picked up the glass part to put it on top, it shattered
Into at least a million pieces. I tried to salvage the filing cabinet part, but even that I could not do. Only men can do those type of things...I am just facing the fact that I cannot.

Fitting myself into The puzzle.

It's been a week now hat I have been here. The last two days I have been kind of isolated and hats not so good. My friend C. Invited me to go to her painting class tonight. The were drawing from a nude figure. I will go next week. I have not drawn a nude figure since college. I await my art supplies.
So how do I feel about my choice.....I don't quiet know yet. I await the dogs  and my belongings...I want to join a painting class in Cannes, join a gym, get a bike, there is so much I want to do.
It's hard being alone but so many people have called and been supportive.
Things are much less convenient here for sure and they seem to make things harder on themselves. I wonder why they are not as modern as we are.  I guess cause the history is so much richer .

Le Poisson

I am learning;
Le Dos de Cabillaud  ( the BACK of Cod)
Le longe d'espadon  ( the LOIN of swordfish)

At the supermarket, the fish section had a rope barrier...you stnad in front of the barrier and looks the the fish displayed on ice. There are fisher people with bright blue rubber aprons, boots and hats that serve you. There is a particular 20 something boy that now knows me and I order from him. I have made out well in the fish department. Snails, Escargot, are big in the fish area....but there not fish...I will try to cook some eventually.

Wish I cpould get some pictures of all of this.

More Pics of La Colle Sur Loup

empty street scenelooking into town

Le Bibliotequa

Roses on the street
It seems as though this Ville is very busy during the summer...but now, it's dead. That's ok with me...It's all of 8 blocks long and I wave waled up and down a few times. It has a lot of history. I need to go to the historical society and learn more. I know that they grew roses and other flowers from the Perfume Industry in Grasse which is about 12 miles west.

The Brasserie

This place is hoppin'!
It's at my end of town...has a great special Plat de Jour everyday...it's too small to sit inside. It's almost like sitting outside at a ski area in the sun. It's open from Wednesday to Sunday, lunch and dinner. They have a fantastic looking Steak Tartare. I have only gone once and had Salade Nicoise.
Note the little French Bull Dogs.
Also...the cash machines are here...R told me that it's where you "Pull money out of the wall."

more pics to come of this as I get more comfortable.

Narrow road to the house

When you drive the mile from the village to get to my house, the road narrows between stone houses and walls.  You have to pull all the way up to the little light and wait for green,...only one car at a time and you better move all the way over to the side too.

Chapel of St. Roch down the street from me

Built in 1843 to Saint Roch to 'invoke" protection from plague and Cholera....glad I missed that.
Check out St. Roch, St. Rocco, he was saved by a dog that brought him bread and licked his wounds.
