Very old, Medieval market.
I saw a nice scene where a man was feeding his little spaniel like dog meat from these shells. The dog was so excited and the man was enjoying making the little dog happy. I should have snapped a pic. The dog was very friendly. He gave me a kiss and had snail breath.
