There is a special place

in my heart for this family. I will never forget my time spent with them and hope to see them again soon!

A delightful concert

Claudio has a beautiful voice...very deep and strong. It was so wonderful to sit there , to listen and to see the love between Grandson and Grandfather. It was a very special experience for me that I will never forget.

And then the music began.

I had forgotten about the music that Claudio had told me about. He will have to tell me the name of the songs. I believe they were traditional songs from Napoli.
Claudio's Grandfather used to play jazz piano in a club for US soldiers in Napoli in WW2. He is gooood!

One of my favorite subjects..

I think this might remind me of my own Grandfather ( Carlon) ...I loved to photograph hands peeling and paring fruit. I wish the light would have been right to use the big camera for this.
They have always had fruit after dinner...
Claudio's wonderful Grandfather just turned 79 on March 5th. He doesn't look 79 to me at all.

Lunch at Claudio's Grandparents

Claudio invited me to have a Saturday lunch with his parents, who raised him. They live in a high rise condo above the city, above Vomero. I met little Vulci ( volcano) who erupts in barks every once in awhile. He was a little leery of the camera.
I had a wonderful time. It's been a long time since I have had any kind of family experience...I felt like part of the family here. I loved them both and Vulci too.
The grandfather would ask questions of me and Claudio would translate.  It was so lovely to see how they took turns bringing the food out and the plates back to the kitchen. They shared in it all.
I loved seeing their wedding picture and 50th anniversary picture. They are wonderful people. Claudio's grandmother is just beautiful....as she was when she was 18. She is an expert chef....
Vulci and his Mother...Claudio's Grandmother
Mozzarella and Prosciutto...wonderful

Olives and Puffed Potatoes
"Pepperoni"...this was incredible...I think that was what they said the name was. Peppers and olives.

Beef, flattened and fried, excellent with the Pepperoni.

Classic Espresso Shop

A Quick run through Vomero

So much to see...so little time. I need to go back.

Beautiful Hat Store

Tucked back in an alley was this sweet little store. I think she makes custom hats. I bought the teal scarf. ( 100% silk made in Napoli) .in Italian..Sciarpa.
I would have bougth the hat, but, where would I wear it? I can't picture who would wear that hat.
