This trip

I have had quiet a bit of problems on this trip. In Pontremoli, I forgot to take a credit card from an ATM. It was one of those ATMs with the deep mouth( so to speak) . The card comes out, but it's not obvious. That was the card that I get cash on. I didn't realize till I got back to the inn. It was a Friday at 9pm or so....nothing I could do about it.
Using my phone, I had to call the bank that issued the card and it ate up all of my minutes on my french phone. I need the phone to text with the woman that is watching the dogs....you can't buy minutes for the french phone in Italy. I could not buy the minutes on line. I couldn't get anyone to help me...but finially, my friend C came through! She was kind enough to put 20 euro on the phone for me.
I can cancelled the card and arranged for a new one...so that was that. Then, when I was to come I to Florence to meet the man to check me into the apartment, I was very late. I let him know 2 hours before that I was running very late. The autostrada was at a standstill. Then, I could not find the airport. It's is very difficult here. So much crap is build up around it that it's hard to find. I went around and around.
Also, the signs are very small. You have to make quick decisions as to left or right and you can't see the signs. I was so frustrated. It took me about an hour to finially find the airport. Then I needed a taxi driver to follow me to the car rental place, which is off site ( I don' t even think there is a shuttle)
So that I could leave my car there while I was in Florence I had to fight with the cab drivers as they insisted I had to take the cab who was first in line. I couldn't figure out how to get up there. I was so mad at this point that I blew up one one cab driver telling him that I hope that when he goes to the states that NO one will help him when he needs help. Is used my hands for emphasis.
Finially, another cab driver came over and talked me thought it. I got the driver at the front of the line and he followed me to the car rental.
Then, the woman at the car rental told me, no way, you can't leave the car here. If you want to turn the car in, fine, but you can't leave it. There was no way I was driving into Florence....
The cab driver told me that I could park the car on the other side of the rental car building. There was a public lot. So I said, to hell with it ! And left it. This meant I had to empty everything out of it.
I had a on of stuff....boots and coats and tripod, clothes for in the woods, clothes for if it rained, a pillow, a shawl, ...all of it had to be schlepped I to Florence.

Today, I went out to check on the car....I was worried, night after night about the car and if it was still there. It was, I was relieved. I drove it into Florence and parked it in a garage near where I am staying. It costs 1.70 per hour. I think I will move it tomorrow ....
And now, I can't find my phone. I hope it's in the car. I would go and look but my feet are killing me from walking on the stone streets for 3 days now. I will wait till morning. Please let me avoid this further problem!
