I am almost home. Yesterday, the garage dragged it out till finally, after all done...( test drive, rental car back to the airport, BIG payment). I was out of there at 4...but it was foggy. I got on the autostrada and headed north and west. As it got darker, it started raining. Big puffs of fog would roll over the highway...most everyone was driving slow. I was very concerned about the car...not trusting it, worried about the weather and on top of that, my head lights were very weak. It was almost like driving with no lights....so, I had to drive with the high beams on. I must have annoyed many people, but I could not see. I kept all the way on the right ( there are only 2 lanes to a side on this highway from Parma to L Spezia) and between trucks. I just followed the trucks. Every 10 miles or so, our lane would be moved over into the oncoming lane, splitting that side in 2. So everyone was single file.
I really wanted to get home, but it was too scary, so when I got to Aulla, ( 143 miles form Bologna) I pulled off, asked the toll taker for a hotel and he told me of Hotel Demy.
Perhaps I should have looked further. I am torn on taking pictures of this dump, as I don't want to remember it.
I am getting ready to get out of here now...7 am ..waiting for some light. It's still raining and windy.
