Harry's Bar

As you know, I had really wanted to go to Harry's Bar but was a bit intimidated. I got off the Vaporetto at the San Marco stop which leaves you off right in front of Harry's. My idea was to loiter in front and wait to see who comes in and out...also, to see if I could peek inside. It wasn't long before a couple went in, and I jumped right in behind them. You are thrust into a white table clothed dining room filled with swells of all sort paying outrageous amounts for a club sandwich .
There was room at the tiny bar, that is right inside of the door. There is room for about 8 and 6 seats were already taken by some riff raff having cappuccinos that must cost about 12 € each.
I was handed a Tiffany blue colored menu of drinks by the very polite and toothsome bartender. He was additionally very tall, whith heavy black glasses in his impeccably pressed white servers jacket with black pants, like all of the staff.
Everything was so expensive...and there was no wine or beer. I ordered a brandy Italiano .
The drink in demand was the beautiful pink Bellini, Bellini being one of the celebrated Venetian Renaissance artists whose colors are so bright and clear.

I was nervous, there was no one to talk to. The space was very tight. I managed to snap off one picture.
I had pictured Harry's as being completely different. I thought it would be dark, with tall ceilings and cavernous. It was quiet the opposite. I try to picture Hemmingway there. The times were way different then.
