Thoughts

I leave Venice tomorrow morning for an overnight stay in Milan. I take the train and it will take about 3 hours. I always feel sad whenever I leave a place that I really loved. I don't feel I know much at all about Venice, unlike Firenze or Roma. I fell I love with Bellini and Carpaccio. I was able to see Titians and Tintorellos and Veronses and 2 Mantagenas. There is so much to learn. Venice has a whole history outside of the rest of Italy. It's very different.

There are so many churches...I kept walking in a wider area, trying to get to areas that I had not seen yet. I missed a lot. I will come back when it is a little warmer, but I will have done some research.

I don't know why that is the city for lovers...is it because there are so many alleyways and secret passages for lovers to hide in? I didn't see any
" lovers"  that I noticed.  It was too cold for much visible love.
It would be ideal here in the spring, warm weather, cool at night, flowers blooming.

I got to know Venice pretty well I think. I was able to navigate the city easily. I liked that I could walk everywhere and just hop on the Vaporetto to reset.
The shopping is just ok. There is nothing all that great to buy. All of the big designers are represented, but I'm not buying things like that. The jewelry here is beautiful. There are some very nice little boutique stores that sell jewelry. The restaurants are excellent . I love the little wine bars.
I didn't see one sushi restaurant . I also did not see a Zara.  The shops are really small. Many were flooded this morning. What a drag to show up to work and you have to clear out 6" of water before opening.

This town is filled with tourists with cameras. Every.  Every country seemed to be represented. The Americans were loud, especially the women. They forget where they are. The French all seemed to be in big family groups that were very demanding . I didn't hear all that many English . The Chinese and Japanese were herein force...always about to embark on a tour or taking snapshots.
I hear that it is very expensive to live here. It would not be easy. The supermarkets are so limited....you'd be dealing with water all of the time and tourists galore . It would seem like they never go away.
