One Day in September

Yesterday S. and I went on a Randonee with the dogs. S. cannot read a map and is clueless as to direction. He cannot find his way back to any place I have showed him.
It was a beautiful day. I took him to the "Sous Tourettes" trail.
We could hear dogs barking and yelping down in the valley below. I wanted S. to see the old stone house deep in the woods as he is looking for a stone house to do a brief sculpture installation in. He is making mushrooms, paper mache which the Brits call something different. It's with very hot flour and water.
When we got pretty far in I started hearing a goat bell ringing. It kept getting closer and closer. S. thought it was a goat. I started worrying about the dogs so I told S. to hold on tight to Emile. We stopped and watched as it got closer and closer. All of a sudden, a very nice hunting dog appeared. His tail was wagging and he came to say hello. He was on his won. He looked lie a cross between a blood hound and a beagle. He turned around and went back up the trail, I didn't get a chance to take a picture. We could hear his bell ringing getting fainter and fainter.
View East to The Bayou Cliff
S. was happy with the stone house I showed him..in fact, the one door was shaped a bit like a mushroom. He wants me to take him back so he can measure. He could not find this trail to save his life. He's been living here for 6 years and had never even been on any of the roads to get there.

View South to the sea. You can't see any buildings from this spot so it looks like what it must have looked liked here for hundreds of years.

Mushroom shaped doorway.

This is a pretty big house with many rooms. We imagined who the last person out might have been. We talked about how the last man's family had the conversation how they had to get Dad out of the house in the woods as he was too old to live out in the middle of nowhere by himself.
zI always seem to catch S. in the middle of talking. Part of the fun on hikes with him is the stories he comes out with.

The way back. In the foreground is broom that no longer has the yellow flowers on it. It looks like tall grass.

The road back is an actual dirt road. The way there is a thin path that goes downhill just past the stone house.
