I had seen this advertised and thought it would be interesting. I had a different vision in my head as to how it would be.It seems as those there is a big contingent of American Country Music lovers in France. There is even a radio station. Line Dancing is big here too. Who knew.
I had my usual excitement about something new to watch and photograph. I was not dressed in any kind of Western way...after all, the is The French Riviera.
Parking was easy, I had thought I wouldn't be able to find a place. I followed the cowboy boot wearing Sisters into the event.
This park is surrounded by apartment houses who were subjected to country music whether they liked it or not. This is something to look for, watch out for when you rent an apartment in France.
23 euro for the event, I paid. It was still light out at 8:30. I was glad that I got there to hear the first band. They were really good. They mostly sang old country standards...Smoke, Smoke, Smoke That Cigarette, Caledonia, Shower Shave and Smile....your typical CW music...I went up and stood right in front to get a good view.
Ranch House Favorites, kind of like a salad dressing.

Surprisingly, when the singers started talking, in English, I could hear they were Dutch, no matter, they were good. I liked the fact that they dressed in unison for the concert.
I checked out the line dancing. Many people had on cowboy hats, boots and USA themed clothes. I say a lot of girls with a type of long fringe belt that shimmied when they danced.
(It reminded me of those old beach movies that I loved as a kid. Does anyone remember the series that had a girl that never spoke but wore a fringe bikini that I think was yellow. There was always a few segments of her dancing making the fringe fly...Sometimes she was featured in the opening credits. She was quiet the dancer. I think my desire to move to California came from watching those movies as a kid.)
The band kept saying that it was their last song, but they kept playing...seems as though the next band was not ready.

I wandered around to see what they had at the concession stands....you could buy some western apparel including belt buckles and hats....but you could also have a Crepe, Frites, Socca, ...what the hell is Gaufres?
