It's appalling to see people actually touching sculptures and paintings in museums. Just don't do it.
There again...in Florence there is an outside sculpture that is bronze of a wild boar...touching it's nose is good luck...
and, in Las Vegas, at Caesar's, when you first walk in, there is a bronze (?) sculpture of August Caesar that you are supposed to touch the hand of for luck.
In both cases, the bronze is shiny clean from being constantly touched.
