I went way off the beaten trail, deep in piney woods. I looked and I looked and suddenly I found this little beauty. It was all by itself, all happy and proud.
It was about 10" high. It was a shame to take it, but that was the point. This was really the only good one I found. Note the little ring around the stem. I have no idea what kind of mushroom it is, but I believe it is edible.
