I have known Frank Gebosky my whole life. His family lived next door to our house in Latham. ....I loved him very much, he was family to me.
I have so many great memories. It is impossible to describe years and years of life in a few sentences.
I will keep the memory of those years in my heart, always.
I will miss you Frank.
Frank J. Gebosky, beloved husband of Jane Jarosz Gebosky,
entered into eternal life peacefully on June, 24, 2014 at his residence.
Frank was born in Cohoes in 1923, he was the son of the late
Frank A. Gebosky and Pauline Michalik Gebosky.
Frank was a graduate of Cohoes High School and a graduate of
Siena College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. He later did graduate studies at Syracuse University
and New York University.
Frank was employed with the Office of the New York State Comptroller
as a field examiner and auditor of Municipal Affairs. Later he worked in the OSC as a Senior
Research Assistant, retiring in August of 1984.
Frank was a veteran of World War II assigned to the
headquarters of the 8th Fighter Command in England. While in the European theatre of operations
he was assigned duties as written in his military discharge record; military A-2
Intelligence and assisted in the evaluation, interpretation, and distribution
of enemy information and counter intelligence work. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal,
European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze service stars (battle
participation stars),WWII Victory Medal, Presidential Citation with one
cluster, and the Good Conduct Medal.
For more than half of the past century, Frank was faithfully
devoted to St. Michael’s Church and parish.
As a young boy he served as an altar boy with Father Gierlacki. During Father Olszewski’s tenure he served as
an usher and was also a member of the Parish Council. He served as an Eucharistic Minister and
trustee with Father Dybas. He was
president of the Board of Education of the former St. Michael’s School. Frank was past chairman of St. Michael’s Cub
Scouts Pack 47. In his later years Frank
was happy to attend mass with Rev. Peter Tkocz.
Frank and his wife, Jane, were world travelers touring most
of the European countries. They enjoyed boating
and camping on the islands of Lake George for more than forty years.
Frank was an active member of the Siena College Alumni,
American Legion Post 1450, Full member of The Kosciuszko Foundation, retired
member of the New York State Professional Employees Federation. He was proud to hold the office of Treasurer
in the St. Michael’s Community Center, Inc.
For 25 years. He was a member of
the American Center of Law and Justice.
He is survived by his
devoted wife, Jane Jarosz Gebosky, and his devoted son Frank J. Gebosky,
Jr. He was predeceased by his son John
A. Gebosky, his brother Arthur Geboskey, and his sister Mary Geboskey Knorowski
