I don't know why, but it's a big deal to me, for me, to figure out the transit system in various cities.
I bought a 72 hour ticket for divisions AB and C...so I could go anywhere in Berlin. One ride on a tram was 2.60 euro, so a 72 hour ticket for 27.50 euro was well worth it for me. Berlin had the U
( urban) Bahn and the S ( suburban) Bahn....there are also R trains, and trams and busses...very complicated. There are big holes in where you can end up...better depend on walking..but I figured it our pretty quick. I did have to get off and go back a few times, but I was getting it.
As I said, I don't know why this is a big deal to me, but I pride myself in being very good with directions and I think this is related.
One experience. I got on a train, sat down and started looking at the map. All of a sudden, I hear this deep, guttural scream from a man that is about 2 people away from me. It was the scream of someone living in hell( picture a Bosch painting, The Garden of Earthly Delights at The Prado!) and screaming in agony. People didn't know what to do. Some people laughed, 2 Asian girls across from him assumed a physical defensive position. Everything went silent.
We arrived at the next stop and he got off. The people relaxed.
There seems to be many crazies like this in Berlin. The seem to be drawn to the transit system.
while I was waiting for a bus in an out lying area, a drunk who was sitting in the bus stop kept laughing at me. It was upsetting.
Why are there so many crazies in Berlin?
