Truite

Early this morning, I took the dogs down to the river walk.  Now that all of the crowds are gone, it is quiet and peaceful there. It is overcast dark today. I am hoping for a rainy day so that I can get some work done.
We came upon a man who was fishing. I was surprised as I spend a lot of time in the river and I never see fish at this time or year or in the summer. It was curious that the man had on cheap white ( and tight) wrap around glasses on....It was so dark.
We walked past and went down to the end. Emile had a nice swim. The water was just the right depth for him. He could touch the bottom if he stretched and it allowed him to propel himself along rapidly. I am so glad that he didn't see the 3 pair of mallards not far up river.
On your way back, I stopped to chat up the man in French....I asked him if there were fish as I had not seen any. He said yes and that he caught many yesterday.  ( he took his glasses off, maybe they work as a polarizer and allow him so see better). He wanted to talk so we talked about fish.
He told me the river was stocked with fish, Trout ( truite in French...difficult to say, sounds like the noise a bird might make...a tweet with an r in it.) The fish come from the US...they are yellow eyed fish. He called it an Avancer Trout. I think....It must look like the one attached. I'm not sure though as I never saw one. This one I found on the internet.
He told me that France send their trout for stock to the US. Who Knew.?
I have this picture in my head of bereted trout on Air France in cargo in some kind of big container going back and forth across the Atlantic...perhaps they are very small when shipped...It seems like a lot of work.
Upon further research I see that they can send eggs...
So you learn something new everyday!
