I am in Genoa for 2 days with my friend S. . I'm taking posts of photos but I only brought my iPad so I can't get at them till I get back tomorrow. Genoa is a wonderful place. It's about 2 and a half hours from Nice. I thought it would be dirty and shabby, but it's just full of interesting so things everywhere you turn. The food here is incredible. We have been trying to try the local specialities . We had green ( Pesto based) minestrone soup today with a fettuccini with walnuts and pistachios. We bought a little onion and cheese pie as a busy shop and sate it on the street. We also had an appetizer of deep fried fish like a sardine...and a brined fish on toast. I usually don't eat fish like that but it was pretty good. We went to many museums, saw some incredible churches one that had 2 Rubens. We saw a Edvard Munch show and an Doisneau show. We went to a very nice ,market , mercado oriental. We took the metro along with many school kids, the boys with Justin Bieber hais do's. I dragged S. Around a museum filled with renaissance to 17the century religious based paintings ..( with an outstanding Fillipo Lippi) and we walked down a very long and very scary alleyway fraught with scary men to get back to the hotel.
Stay tuned...tomorrow we go to the famous cemetary and then I will post all pics.....but be
I eve me when I tell you,
Genoa is beautiful and I will want to come back here. The people are so friendly and kind.
