I decided to drive one town south for dinner. The town is Katwijk and it is also on the North Sea . I googled the town and found a good seafood restaurant. When I got down there it was like a sand storm. The restaurant is over the dunes, right on the beach. Next to it were these beautiful white cabins that you can rent. Each had a colorful little wagon next to it for lugging beach accoutrements down to the beach. It was about 7:30 and the sun was very low. I took some beautiful photographs, I think. I did not take many as the sand was flying everywhere and I didn't need to ruin the camera. I could barely stand when I came around the corner out of the shelter of the little houses. The wind was pelting me with sand. There were drifts everywhere. In order to get into the restaurant I had to climb over a drift.
The restaurant was a big open place, white and really beautiful. They had a paper handout menu in English . I don't think they get many English speakers. The waiter was really nice, spoke perfect English. I had Fruits De Mer. All local shell fish, lobster, langoustine shrimp, cockles, a small local shrimp, razor clams, oysters and some other kind of clam. It came out on a huge plate on ice. I don't think he thought I could or would eat it all. I ate all of it except the cockles and the local shrimp.
I wanted a chocolate desert but they had something like pineapple soup and they also had champagne mousse with passion fruit. It was a very nice restaurant. Tres Cher.
I found my way back easily. I had to take the highway and all. I found the restaurant easily too. I was told driving was hard in Holland, but I'd don't find that it is. The language is what's hard. I can't pronounce any of it or read it either. It's making me miss the french language. It's a good break for me to be away from France so as to clean my pallet.
