Valberg is about 90 miles from Nice. The road when you get past the little place we stopped was treacherous. You drive up through a gorge with very steep walls. The color of the rock is dark read and there are waterfalls everywhere. Good luck if you go over the side into the river. More on that on the way back.
By the time we got to the station the sun was out. I had to rent everything, it took all of 10 minutes. We already had out tickets . After we got out gear on, we skied to the chairlift and we were off.
My friend Philip and I stayed together as we both wanted to ski a little low. My skies were very fast and it started out a bit icy, but it warmed up beautifully, like skiing in sugar.
The French call "corn" snow, Le Gros Sel or La neige du Printemps.
Philip is a Brith. He and his wife have lived in Antibes for years. He was happy to speak English with someone. He's very very nice. He is an instructor.
We had a great time skiing together. It was really nice as the group all stayed together through the whole day.
In the distance you could see dark clouds coming in so we started at 9 and quit at 2:30 without taking a break.
It worked out well.
