Happy to say that my language skills are improving. I breezed through
the supermarket today. I bought fish, asked for a smaller piece. Is asked if they had any printer labels, which they didn't for the computer. I understood the cashier when she told me that I forgot my glasses . I bought flowers and asked for them individually. I bought gas with a new attendant and it all worked out well.
I did cause a small avalanche of cheeses in the goat cheese aisle. It got a laugh out of. Fellow shopper as I scrambled to pick them up.
When I bought the flowers there were some Brits buying some geraniums ...wow, early for geraniums. I had spoken French the whole time and suddenly hear the word "pink". I looked over and acknowledged myself as an English speaker too. The woman that owned the flower shop said...Oh vous etes American ! Where are you from.? She totally blew off the Brits. They all swoon when I say San Francisco .
One glitch, the boulangerie tripped me up. I was not in the order that they wanted me, I waited and waited and finally said...forget it. I don't need bread anyway.
We went on a small hike this morning on a new path. I forgot my camera equipment at home. We veered off the big dirt piste on to a small path throughout the scrub. Kate led the way. It was a good thing that there was a man in some kind of stone busting machine or I would have been lost. I could hear the machine in the distance and tried to get back out to the piste. I eventually got there but started to worry. I carry a compass and mace with me into the woods.
And....

Good job with the French! It gets easier the more you use it. Sounds like you've made the jump to the next level. Très bien !
