A Hot Tuesday in Rome with A Wet Camera

Not very good pictures as my little camera took some sort of bath.
It was brutally hot yesterday, in the mid 90's and humid. I had an appointment at Villa Borghese at 10:30. Getting there is problematic as the metro is very limited so you have to sort out the bus situation.  Imagine me standing in front of a 12 foot high bus sign trying to figure out which bus.
Luckily, the perfect bus appeared, a small electric bus that took us right into the park and in front of the villa.
I rode with a group of about 8 English boys and their 3 harried male teachers. A group of boys stood and when the bus would stop quickly, they fell back into me and stepped on my poor feet .
They were an interesting crew.
I decided to take an art historian guided tour with about 7 other people. It only cost 6.50euro. I learned a lot about Bernini. This has really been a Bernini trip for me as I have always ignored his work. At the Borghese they have major statues of his that are just amazing. They have a small sculpture of a goat and 2 putti that he carved when he was 15 years old with amazing detail. I will include some links if interested. I loved the Apollo and Daphne statue the best with the transparent marble.
They also have 4 Carvaggio's and many other interesting things both sculptures and paintings...oh, a gorgeous Raphael of the transport of Christ with stunning color and a vey important Titian.
The place itself is a beautiful palace owned by the Borghese Pope. More detail to follow.
But, you have to check everything including handbag and camera. When I left the gallery after I picked up my bag, I went to take some photos and the camera would not go. It felt wet. I pulled everything out of my bag and it was soaked...I didn't have any liquids...so, my little camera was down.
I jumped back on the bus and took it to The Spanish Steps. It was so deadly hot that no one was on the steps but across the street in the shade.
I stopped and had lunch at a very nice restaurant that I had been in before. I sat inside. After that I wandered around. I wanted to go to The Modern Art museum, but I couldn't figure out which bus to take and the heat was starting to get to me. I sat at a cafe on the Via Veneto and had a glass of Wine in the shade and then dragged myself to the metro for the trip back.
Just imagine if you had to wrangle those boys and their electronic devices all day. I did hear talk of confiscation....
My camera appears to be ok...
I have 2 days left. The heat is supposed to break on the day I leave.
