Ragnaia bridge (also known as Cimabue’s bridge)
Built in the sixteenth century this bridge crosses the Ensa creek few miles distant from Vicchio. According to the legend there is where the encounter of the painter Cimabue and the young Giotto who was busy painting a sheep onto a rock with extreme realism. The Florentine master Cimabue was so impressed by the talent of the young shepherd that he brought him in his workshop in Florence. That was the beginning of Giotto’s outstanding artistic career.
