June 10

S and I took a hike to the cemetery spot. My camera did not have it's battery so no picture. S was not ready for the dense scrub we went through. We hiked the short way up the creek to the deep swimming spot where the cliffs make it impossible to go any further.  ( except if you want to swim in the deep muck) So we climbed straight uphill. Kate led the way. It brought me back to when I was a young girl and would crawl through scrub, swamps, all kinds of wild landscapes behind my parents house. F. will attest and J , F and I used to have adventures all of the time to new places.

There was no trail to be found and we scrambled up the cliff pushing Emile up. We had to cross a deepish ravine and then realized that we really could go no further. I swear I could hear a waterfall, S, said he couldn't hear as he has Tourettes...but I think he meant Tinnitus...to which he said yes, damn it, damn, damn, damn ( like Tourettes,,,,a joke)
We were running out of time as S. had to get back. We had crawled under wild bushes, through holes, past prickers, slid down and over moss and ferns. I thought, perhaps if we climb up a little more there will be a trail. So we did. No trail...and we had to cross the ravine again. S. led the way this time with his sunglasses in his hand. We slid down the wet ravine till we got back to the creek. It was quite the adventure...and no camera.

We figured there had been no one down this tangled cliff side since the dinosaurs...and we felt as though this is what it would be like if you were in a plane crash trying to make your way out ...but you would have a broken arm or worse. There is no trail and you have to beat back the years and years of growth.
It was a fun adventure.
