built in 1585-88, Pope Sixtus V...It was the terminus for water from the Acqua Felice. Acqua Felice was a new aqueduct constructed by Sixtus V to bring water into this area. ( Rione Quirnale)
Before that, everyone in Rome who wanted water had to go to the Terminus near the Trevi fountain....very far away. This made this area a thriving community.

next to the fountain, on the right is a window...mid frame. This was a private bath for women...they could go and bathe in private in this area.
