I am making progress! My teacher tells me that I am a little above intermediate. I am happy with that. I don't study at all. Somehow, I think I was going to absorb it without studying. Now, I will start doing some studying. I feel like I have somewhat of a foothold. I am still having a problem if someone starts talking to me and I am not expecting it. I can't understand what they are saying.
Today, I was at the supermarket./ I wanted to get a "carte d'affiliation"from this particular supermarket so I had to speak to the manager. All went well. I asked for the card. I filled out the info on the application and waited for the card to be printed. As I stood there, I noticed a pigeon flying around in the high ceiling...I decided to try my french...
"Did you know that there is a bird in the store" ( did not know "flying around " so I kept it simple.
The woman said, yes, there are two.
Then a few people came into the store and a man said hello to the manager. She in turn said..."Bonjour Monsieur Trouver." Trouver in French is to find . I thought that an odd name so I asked her...."Monsieur Trouver?" She laughed and said, in English....
"Yes, Mr Find."
So I am making progress, finding interesting things and getting further in French society. If you don't speak, you cannot understand it. More and more reveals itself to me as I learn.
