French Tradition

S. stopped at a Patisserie and picked up a galette de roi et reine ( king and queen). Then, we drove way up above the city to a walkway along a canal with old olive trees. The light was beautiful and warm.
We found a place along the cement wall above the canal to sit and eat the galette.
The galettehas a king and a queen baked or inserted into it. It is a good luck type of thing...you get the king, you get the crown.
The trick is that they cover the spot of where figurine is. If you know this, you can be sure who get the figurines.
S. made sure I got both the king and the other which was Roxanne La Sorciere...
I  got to wear the crown. I buy the cake next year!
 What a wonderful memory.
