I was thinking about what I said below about the baguettes. I could eat a whole baguette like my friend J. does with goat cheese ( I prefer the Brebis blue or the butter with sea salt in it ) but I have an aversion. My Mother had a friend whose husband became very ill later in life. I was never sure what he suffered from, but my Mother once told me that he could eat a whole loaf of bread. I think this became a big indicator of mental illness to me. I presume she meant a whole loaf of Wonder Bread, but I took as just any loaf of bread. I wonder if there is a limit on roll intake too.
So, I see people with baguettes and it triggers something subliminal in me.
It's like Alaskan King Crab and Portnoy's mother. If you have not read "Portnoy's Complaint" , shame on you. After Portnoy's mother gets sick from AKCrab, no one in the family is ever allowed to eat it for the rest of their lives.
It's just what mothers do to us sometimes.
