Raining and gloomy today

No photographs today, but some mental images. I often drive by some beautiful things that I don't take for granted. I love the fires that burn and how the smoke makes everything hazy. I love the smell. I wish I could tell what the smell is when they are burning olive tree branches.. I notice that the olive trees are being pruned now.

I drive by a field that is filled with horses. I love to see them early in the morning eating their hay that's laid out on the ground for them.

There is a small empty field near the rotary that leads into my town. I think of it as being called Love Field. I often see people expressing love for their little dogs in this spot. The master can stand on the side walk, the little dog can be up on the wall, at the edge of the field. It allows for being on eye level with the dog. Eye to eye they express their admiration for each other.

I love going through the toll booth, throwing a 2 euro coin into the basket of the machine, reaching for change and coming up with an extra .50 euro. Sometimes people forget they have change.

No one asks me at the supermarket if I want money back from my card.
At the supermarket you pay by feeding money into a machine. The checkout women ( I have never seen a man) all have long nails and don't like to get their hands dirty. They all sit in chairs. At the local store, sometimes one woman has her little dog on a leash with her.

I found out why people park face out in the parking garage. The front of the car is lower and you stand more chance of hitting the cement barrier at the far end of the slot.
The back is higher and therefore naturally goes above the cement .
Also, I think the french get places early and are late leaving so save time by parking face out.

My neighbor owns a restaurant in a local town. He saves the bread at the end of the night, puts it into a plastic bag and throws it over the fence. It lands on Madame Lamberts lawn. She uses the bread to feed her many canaries that she has Ina beautiful aviary. You should hear them singing in the morning.
There is one that is blind.

I can't stress how great rotaries are. I went round and round one today trying to spin off into the right exit. I think they cut down on accidents.
In Villeneuve Loubet, at the main intersection of the town, the traffic light is never on. It's a free for all.
I see many meters that tell you how fast you are driving. Many of them say "merci" if you are going below the limit.

It really amazes me how many people I see with baguettes. Do people eat the whole baguette ? How can you eat that much bread ? It is good , though. There are so many types. I try to stick with the one that's called pain Au cereals.

At the gym today, the special was Chicken Tandoori. ...

  1. I confess ... I can eat a whole baguette. Usually with chèvre, sometimes hummus. Try "une tradition". Very yummy.
