Hike today along the Loup River

near La Bar Sur Loup.

It was overcast so the photos are the best...but you can get the idea. It was a narrow sometimes scary path along a roaring river. I kept the dogs on the leash when the bank down to the water got steep. Emile has to be on the leash as he takes off.

You start off walking past a very pretty confectionary factory that you can visit. They have a beautiful terraced garden in the back and there is a broken aqueduct overhead.
There is an interesting garden further along that has a blog.

We walked for a long way along the river until we came to a bridge that goes over the river. Its really high up and the water is rushing below. It's metal with a wood floor. It goes over to some incredible rock faces. From here, there are many climbing courses. The cliffs are straight up...really incredible.
Straight Up

I found a pool that was away from the torrent and let Kate have a dip.
