Swimming Lesson

Yesterday, down on out river walk we saw a man seeming to stand in the middle of the river, in the distance. When we got closer we could see he was in an isolated spot. The path along the river leaves the immediate bank for awhile and in this spot you can't see the river unless you climb an embankment.
So we quietly snuck up the hill. From the top we could see a man with a large Weimaraner in his arms. We watched as he tossed the poor dog into the deep water.
I am of mixed mind on this technique. I know that dogs are often skittish of swimming, even dogs that are good swimmers. Some dogs just forget they know how to swim and you have to remind them. It was sink or swim with this man. I could tell that he really loved the dog. The French really love their dogs. Just then I saw there was a 2nd dog who was swimming in from down river against the current, another weimaraner with a stick in it's mouth. This dog saw me and alerted his owner. I took a quick snap.  The man gave me a nasty look. I was interrupting his training.
We fell back.
It was beautiful as the water was a beautiful aqua color and the dogs were a soft grey against it.
