Le Rive Loup

Today, the dogs and I went on a hike along the River Loup ( http://dangerousroads.org/europe/312-gorge-du-loup-france.html) . There is a white water kayaking school and kayak course there that is owned by a famous woman kayaker. It is a beautiful walk at the base of a grey stone cliff and a steep wooded hill on the other. The river is inbetween.  You pass some abandoned buildings and stonework. This river is pristine. It is crystal clear with a sand and rock bottom with some small but very fast rapids. Down further there is a waterfall. The river eventually empties out into the beautiful Mediterranean. I forgot my camera but I will be going back to this spot for as long as I can. It looks like a great swimming spot for the summer. Kate took a bit of a dip. The trees are chestnut and oak with vines growing up their trunks. Little seedlings were poking through the dead leaves. It looks to only get about 90 minutes of sun per day and then the sun goes behind the cliff.
