So I needed to send some papers for my Visa. I got everything together after a lot of stress. It seems as though I did not have my passport stamped when I entered the country. I am hoping my paper work will go through without that but they are sticklers here. Anyway, I got it all together and went off to La Poste in La Colle Sur Loup, my first foray. As it turns out, the post office is closed until March 15th??? Huh? So I had to go to another town. I decided to go North to the gorgeous St. Paul De Vence. This village is usually a parking nightmare. I think the locals do not like it very much and encouraged me to go downhill to Villeneuve Loubet.

I had to park straight uphill, for 20 minutes only. I had to get into this Poste somehow as it had an elaborate red light , green light system...some man just opened the door for me, with a little chuckle, 23 euro later, my paperwork will be delivered tomorrow. Lots of French being thrown in my directions. I have to admit that I am guilty of just saying oui, oui, when I did not understand. Hell!
Then I flew downhill to the supermarket and posted a card on a board looking for a casual French teacher. Again, I had a bunch of French thrown at me and I said oui, oui, again...when I did not understand.
Here are some quick picks and a link for St. Paul. The most beautiful town up in the hills. I do like Vence proper too where there is a beautiful Matisse Chapel. It is open very limited hours and I was never able to get there...next week on a sunny day, I will go. Matisse created the stained glass windows...gorgeous blue.
St Paul is the most beautiful town...Everything around it is super expensive...all the Inns, all the restaurants. I will get much better pictures soon.
If you want to mix up the "oui, oui, oui" thing a bit, throw in the occasional, "ah bon?" (Really? ) Sometimes they'll repeat what they said and there's the possibility of catching it the second time.
ReplyDeleteThat town is just beautiful. Looks like Italy.
The photos are beautiful. I hope you find a great French teacher! Yes, it does look like Italy.
