Saturday Lunch at La Taverne Colloise

in La Colle Sur Loup. This place is tucked way back into the corner on the main square. I thought it would be empty. The black and White cat said no...itz open....don't be stupid, mon dieu!
When I walked in, every table but one was occupied. The woman was very nice and gave me a table. I spoke French the entire time. The other tables were filled with families,  talking up a storm, kids on little phone computers playing games...the men would go out first and come back in about 30 minutes and then the women and children would leave and the men stayed.
It was great because I was like a fly on the wall. There was a man on the right behind the bar that was in a wheelchair. He looked like he had had a stroke. I am guessing the older woman is the Mother, Dina, she did all of the cooking, the daughter serves and I think the man sitting is the brother. He was practically yelling after the women left, he was so animated about what he was talking about. I think he was talking about parking and driving and getting a ticket and speed traps. The standing man became very animated. The arms were raised in the air for emphasis. It was great.
I had my first meat, Spaghetti Bolognese and a Caesar Salad. I didn't realize there was poulet on the Caesar. I barely are any of the meat and none of the chicken, but the pasta was good...Mom's home cooking. I was then coerced into a desert.  I will go back there. They made me feel at home.
