Vieil Antibes Cafe

I sat down at my favorite cafe and had a beer far too early , at noon. I had an hour before lunch and I don't drink coffee. I sat and watched people come and go. This cafe is in the perfect spot to people watch and to sit in the sun. It's on a corner and a small square that has a fountain. One year I stayed in an apartment that looked down on this whole scene.
As I sat there, I saw people inside with small dogs trying to get to each other. I head a woman tell a couple,  "She doesn't like men" and then she righted herself " I mean, the dog doesn't like men". The couple remained straight faced.
These 4 working men came in. There is a lot of construction going on in this area. They are building some kind of monument in the center of the square. These men came in for an espresso. They were dirty as can be. Note how the one man, in the striped sweater is staring out of the window. I heard him wonder aloud about what the woman was drinking outside in the funny glass. The older man, with the glazed look, explained to him patiently, that it was champagne. The young man seemed surprised to see Champagne at this time, in this setting, in that glass. What must have been going through his head seeing this woman in a full length fur coat drinking champagne from a flute, while he, on the other side of the glass watched on with wonder, dirty from digging in the dirt at 12 noon on a Thursday.
The there was a man that came in a few times with a bouquet of Mimosa's. He didn't seem to care that he was a man walking around in a crowd, gingerly holding a bouquet of flowers. He was looking for someone, a woman? I never did see if he found her.
