I woke up pretty early this morning, worried about the dogs. They had flown Swiss Air through Zurich. I watched their flight on line. A quick 70 minute.s.

I drove to the airport and went into Le Fret ( freight area). I walked into a huge warehouse and I could see their crates right away. I was so happy to see them. I had a bunch of paperwork to do. The men at the Swissport were very nonorganic and quick. I was getting emotional as I could not go to the dogs yet. I bet they see his all the time. People comic to pick up their animals. I think they were well taken care of. Then I had to go upstairs to the customs office...not easy to find. Behind the glass was Tweedle Dee, the clerk who was going to make it easy or difficult. I handed him my papers ( so many, about 30 redundant forms) and he shuffled through them. He never asked me any questions...never said a word to me. He got up a few times.
Went toward the exit and then came back and shuffled again. I don't know what the hell he was doing. It was like he was looking to escape. I snapped a quick picture with the phone...blurry, I know. I could only see the top of his head. A man came with some custom papers with a maroon passport and very delicate facial features. I rolled my eyes and he signaled he understood the frustration. I was told that in these type of circumstances, to be silent and just not react. Just wait and sure enough, after 30 minutes flirting with red tape, a big stamp came down twice...boom, boom, and I knew that all was well. I gave a quiet " yes!" And was able to go. After paying 89 euro ( the government must be filthy rich with all the taxes) I was able to get the dogs. They were so happy to see me. We broke down the crates and got them into the car. They have not seen me drive standard yet....however they have been to Zurich and I have not. They said it was very clean. They were so hungry. It couldn't have been easy for them, especially Kate as she is so attuned to noises. I am so glad it worked out ok. Thanks to all that helped and supported us. I think They are happy to be here with me in the country.
Kate rides shotgun? I'm surprised!
ReplyDeleteSo, so, so happy the dogs arrived in France safe and sound :)
